UMMOA's Yahoo Islet discovery and claim

On 14 April 2008 (V:01E2008@058), the Geographer of the United Micronations Multi-Oceanic Archipelago (UMMOA) discovered a new islet whose existence the government was not aware of previously.

The islet appears to be south of Serranilla Bank (IE or Firefox link) Since the islet was first detected through a very meticulous search of Yahoo! Maps — the Geographer of UMMOA was searching for Serranilla Bank as a whole, and even that search proved to be far from easy —, it was given the name of Yahoo Islet.

It appears that originally Yahoo Islet was named Beacon Cay. According to the Wikipedia, Yahoo Islet is completely overbuilt with houses and some military facilities, which were used by the US Marines during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. The station is abandoned today. Besides Yahoo Islet, there are at least three other very small cays that emerge above the water to form the Serranilla Bank's islands: West Breaker, Middle Cay, and East Cay.

Yahoo Islet has a triangular shape vaguely resembling Sicily, and is about 0.47 miles wide, about 0.15 miles high, or about 0.0705 square miles in area (45.12 acres/18.26 hectares/0.1826 square kilometres). On that area you can fit about 135 older American homes, so it isn't a big islet, but it isn't too small either.

Yahoo Islet is located approximately at latitude 15° 44' 58.86'' North and longitude 79° 45' 35.52'' West (15.749683, -79.759868), and can be seen at a low resolution through the following Yahoo! and Live Search maps:

Permanent screen shots of Yahoo Islet are available at the links below, and the images are being kept in order to preserve evidence of the historical record:

The Government of UMMOA officially lays claim to Yahoo Islet.

UMMOA also lays claim to any other islets or cays that can be found in either Serranilla Bank or Bajo Nuevo Bank, and which cannot be viewed even through high resolution Internet maps (IE or Firefox view of Serranilla and Bajo Nuevo banks).

The Geographer of UMMOA has renamed the Low Cay of Bajo Nuevo Bank Royal Cay.
